The Media Arts Council (M.A.C.) will host the 2nd Saturday Arts Stroll on August 8th from 6-9pm. This month’s Arts Stroll encourages visitors’ adventurous sides, featuring a scavenger hunt for adults and children. Participants can enjoy the variety of arts presentations while searching for clues and gaining a chance to win prizes.
Participants can pick up riddles at the M.A.C. table on State Street (near Earth & State) beginning at 6pm, or at Earth & State before 6pm. Completed riddles must be returned to the MAC table by 8:30 to be eligible for the raffle. The drawing will be at 9pm, offering gift baskets containing prizes from 2nd Saturday businesses.
Also featured this month will be artist and author David Gerbstadt who will be reading from his children’s book, The Red Heart, at the Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union at 7pm. Gerbstadt is a local artist who exhibits primarily in the greater Philadelphia area. The Red Heart was originally created as a personal holiday message for friends and family, and later published, according to the author, “To bring color, love and smiles to people’s faces.” Gerbstadt is a lifelong artist who believes that art should be for everyone, and creates art every day with materials that are around him.
More than 40 businesses participate in this month’s 2nd Saturday Arts Stroll, with art displays at 12 locations including personal mosaic murals, collages, abstract impressionism, photography, paintings, jewelry, mixed media and rock concert photography. Music at 15 locations will satisfy diverse tastes including 90’s rock, hammered dulcimer, folk, guitar, and a barbershop quartet. Also featured will be lapidary demonstrations, musical theater, an outdoor movie, tango, recycled newspaper bead making, and magic.
