Earth Day Celebration
Friday, April 22, 2011, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
The National Constitution Center will celebrate Earth Day by helping visitors find out more about the local community and how they can play a part in helping it “go green.” Community organizations will talk to visitors about their water, soil, and home environment, and will share tips on how to beautify the community and reduce carbon footprints. Visitors can register to vote on site, to ensure that environmental concerns are heard on all levels, both locally and nationally. Children also will have the opportunity to make recycled paper and crafts from repurposed newspapers and magazines. During a special program, guests will discover how environmentally friendly our nation was when the Constitution was written, and even calculate the Founding Fathers’ carbon footprints compared to those of Americans today.
